Tool Thinker is a standalone recommendation service for small-business owners and solo operators. We help you identify a task worth testing with AI, then suggest a starting option from a small researched catalog.
What determines a recommendation?
We consider frequency, effort, how similar the steps are each time, the consequences of mistakes, your software budget, and expected review time. Business type and team size label the report; task details and preferences determine the match.
How is the task ranking calculated?
Monthly task hours = times per week × minutes each time × 4.33 ÷ 60. We rank eligible tasks by monthly hours × repeatability weight (1 for consistent work, 0.6 for variable work, 0.2 for mostly unique work) × error-consequence weight (1 for low impact, 0.6 for medium impact).
High-consequence work, mostly unique tasks, unclassified tasks, and tasks with no estimated net time saving do not become AI trial priorities. This is a transparent heuristic, not a validated prediction of business results.
Are time savings guaranteed?
No. The report applies your selected 25% or 50% time-reduction scenario and subtracts estimated review time. It floors the result at zero. Setup time and software fees are not deducted. Measure the result of a real test before deciding whether to continue.
How are products selected and checked?
We match the task category and budget to our catalog. The current catalog covers writing, research, customer-feedback synthesis, meeting transcription, and workflow automation. It is not a comprehensive comparison or a live search for the newest tool.
Each entry links to an official source and carries a verification date. Entries older than 30 days are marked for rechecking; those older than 90 days are excluded from product matches. Automatic research updates are not configured. If there is no current match, the report says so.
Are recommendations paid placements?
No. The assessment currently includes no paid placements or affiliate links. Tool providers may charge for their own products. Tool Thinker does not start subscriptions on your behalf.
What happens to my answers?
Your assessment runs in the browser. Answers remain in the current page session and are not sent to an AI provider or saved in a Tool Thinker database. Normal hosting requests still occur. A downloaded or printed report stays wherever you save it.
